March 2020 saw the Coronavirus shut down all restaurants in the UK and most of Europe, leaving our fishermen with no trade and the population in lockdown.
BH Fish was founded as a way to support Poole fishermen and to encourage the Dorset community to cook locally caught Sea Bass, Sole, Turbot, Lobster, Crab and more, at home.
All our fish are wild, using sustainable, low impact fishing methods.
Our Oysters, Cockles & Clams are farmed from inside Poole Harbour.
After 12 weeks of lockdown in the UK, the restaurants were finally allowed to reopen on July 4th 2020 and we’d like to thank the local community for their role in supporting our fishermen through that unprecedented time.
Now that our fishermen have the restaurant trade back, we will still continue to deliver fresh, local seafood to your door, but it also gives us the chance to spread our net further around the UK and ensure that as much of our home-caught produce stays on our shores as possible.
We are now able to add things such as Langoustines, Scallops, Squid and Octopus to our range.
Go to ‘Catch of the Day’ at the top left of this page to see today’s offerings.
Make your order before 6pm and your fresh fish and shellfish will be delivered straight to your door the following afternoon.
Deliveries are made Monday to Saturday, between 12pm & 5pm.
We also spend lockdown busily building our very own Fishmongers, a stones throw away from Poole Quay and collections can be made 7 days a week from BH Fish, 23 Market Street, BH15 1NB.
But perhaps most exciting thing about the relaxation of social distancing guidelines, is that it gave us the opportunity to launch our own Seafood Tapas Bar, an Al Fresco dining experience at premises where our fishmongers is based.
‘BH Fish @ The Crown’ is a collaboration between ourselves and Sean Cooper, one of Dorset’s most respected chefs and owner of The Crown Hotel in Poole.
With an innovative, seafood tapas menu, changing daily depending on the fishermen catch, this new concept allows us to showcase the amazing produce available on our doorstep, all set within a sun-trapping courtyard in the centre of old town Poole.
